<title>[04/02/12 12:09:04] BKC-II Rule Queries - Minefields and opportunity fire - Posted by Leader</title>
<description>If a unit moves in a minefield at which point does the opponent get to declare opportunity fire?
Options as I see them are:
 a) As soon as the player starts to move the unit.
 b) Once the player has moved the unit and thus revealed how many attacks it is to be subjected to, but could choose to fire at an earlier point reducing the number of attacks if the opponent wanted to keep the unit in the minefield. The attacks form the mines and the opportunity fire would all count as a single order and thus cannot force the unit to fall-back.
 c) Once the player has rolled the attacks from the minefield and made any saves/suppressions, but the opportunity fire would all count as part of the same set of attacks, i.e. it cannot force the unit to fall-back.
 d) As c) but as a new attack and thus could force the unit to fall-back and hence be knocked out as it is in a minefield.

My view would be b as it would allow the opponent to limited the movement of the enemy as you can with normal opportunity fire and keep the unit pinned down in the minefield but means the decision to use opportunity fire is made before knowing the effects of the minefield. If the attacks by the minefield were sufficient to KO the target then the opportunity fire would be wasted, but that's the choice you make.

I'm sometimes surprised by the questions new players can ask and find myself not knowing the answer. [:X][:)][:D]

<title>[04/02/12 10:16:37] General Discussions - In the event of Scottish independence... - Posted by Mr Mojo Rising</title>
<description>A little hypothetical for you...

No, I'm not talking about 2014. After Nik's recent posting (http://tinyurl.com/7exfv45)http://tinyurl.com/7exfv45) I was think more of 1936ish. You see, I'm now hooked on the idea of AVBCW in the North-East, so I'm thrashing out some ideas and concepts for factions involved; Blackshirt militias, royalist army units rushed up from the south, German/Italian volunteers, and on the other side of the fence heavy industry unions and Communist parties objecting to Teesside steel supplying Franco's armies, and perhaps a few regular army troops who declare against the King and a Mosley government. You know. that sort of thing!

So if, in this fictional setting, Scottish nationalists declare independence. Let's also assume they have fairly broad support north of the border. What happens to 'Scottish' British Army units? Do they break off and become the nucleus of a Scottish Armed Forces? Hypothetically of course.

I only ask because I think a 'Flying Scotsman' column rushed down through Northumberland in exchange for the NE of England recognising Scottish independence would be a wonderful unit to support my union and communist militias [:D]

Of course, it is all fiction so I can do whatever I damn well please in the end!

 Thanks,

 Fletch

<title>[03/02/12 13:28:35] FWC General Discussions - FWC Background - Posted by RedDogGaz</title>
<description>Just received my copy of FWC (Thanks Pete).
Only had a skim read so far, but wondered if you long time players could point me in the direction of some background to the different races/factions etc?
I've had a look on some of the websites (albeit some are blocked by work) but background appears to be minimal.
Thanks in advance for your help.
 Gary

PS If this has been covered before, apologies.

<title>[03/02/12 11:03:52] Trading - 15mm bits wanted. - Posted by LukeR78</title>
<description>Does anyone know if it’s possible to buy individual Bazooka or Machine Gun teams in 15mm anywhere? I’m just after a couple of teams for some 15mm skirmish forces I’m putting together and everyone seems to only flog them in whole platoons of packs of 8 if I go to Peter Pig.

 Specifically I’m after:

1 x US Bazooka Team (NW Europe)
1 x US .30 cal Team (NW Europe)
2 x German 2 man MG42/34 Teams (NW Europe, not on tripod)
2 x British Airborne Bren Gun teams

If any 15mm players have any of these languishing in their bits box and want a couple of quid for them let me know.

<title>[01/02/12 20:53:48] BKC Rule Queries - Scenario 7: Pursuit - Posted by SteveJ</title>
<description>I have a query about the set up for the defender in the Pursuit scenario:

  &amp;quot;The defender deploys first in the centre third of the table, then the attacker chooses which of the two table edges to use as his baseline. The defender may then pivot any units to face the attacker.&amp;quot;

My question is this: Does the Defender place any minefields, barbed wire etc before or after the attacker chooses his table edge?

I would have thought after as the defender would have his defences to the front and would not choose to retreat through his own minefields etc. However, that is my interpretation but I await feedback from Pete and other members[:)].

<title>[01/02/12 15:41:30] FWC Rule Queries - Timing of actions - Posted by Luddite</title>
<description>Oooh...something cropped up as i read through the rules last night.

 When do actions happen?

 Iniative
Say 4 INF react to the closest enemy INF. 2 want to fire at it and the other two want to close assault.
The 2 shooters have different attacks (1 has 3 the other 4).
 When do they shoot?
When are the effects of shooting applied?

When do the other 2 move in to close assault?

 On orders
HQ orders 4 INF units to act. 2 shoot, and 2 move in to close assault one enemy INF.
When do their actions and effects apply?

<title>[28/01/12 22:04:39] BKC General Discussions - First BKC 2 game last night.... - Posted by Glennister</title>
<description>Picked a random late war date, October 44.
Russians v Germans at 2000 points, tried to get a good mix of everything (ignoring aircraft for the first outing)
We rolled randomly for a scenario and played.... (I am sure that we should have agreed the scenario before we created the lists as I had to reduce my points by half)

We learned as we played and stopped the game short at 2:30am.

<title>[28/01/12 21:22:57] FWC Miniatures - Basing - Posted by Pete</title>
<description>I recently purchased some 6mm minis from Plasmablast Games and am pondering how to base them. I fancy doing something different and was thinking of using circular bases. Anyone tried this? Front, flank and rear can be determined by the vehicle so not worried about that. I'm going to use APCs to represent infantry, so that's not a concern either (hell, these guys are gonna be dropped on inhospitable planets, why would they get out of the safe confines of their vehicles? [|)][:D]).

Another thing I thought about was using transparent bases so the minis could be used on different terrain layouts and would blend in with all of them.

<title>[27/01/12 20:02:03] Battlegroups Online - Italian Medium Tank M13-40 - Posted by Cross698</title>
<description>Hello,

In the 'battlegroups on line' the M13-40 has an 'R' in the notes for restricted. Any reason for this, as it has a turret? I understand it contained 2 crew (within the turret) and as such it is described as not as efficient, by this I take it's movement. Is this the reason it is given the 90 degree rather than normal 180??

 thanks

<description>Ok - came up in a game last night -

 1) laser fences - how do you clear them, particularly snc no list seems to have any engineers.

 2) Which weapons need set-up, ie a deploy order. The problems arose with a heavy blaster (HMG equivalent I think), and Lt Mortar - thats on the Red Guard list but dont know which list the other is on.

 TIA

<title>[27/01/12 10:29:14] BKC General Discussions - Rules for Polish Armoured Train? - Posted by johnboy</title>
<description>Gentlemen,it's time to put on your thinking hats!

I'm playing an early war BKC game in a couple of weeks - Germans vs Poles. My opponent (Poles) has just bought the Battlefront Armoured Train model and would ideally like to field it in the game. Any idea of how to go about using this piece of kit in BKC?

We have no idea of points costs, armour, speed, firing capability etc. Do we just use it as onboard artillery? Do I try to capture/blow it up? Or do we just forget it and play without it?

Any ideas would be most welcome.

 thanks,

 John

<title>[27/01/12 10:20:38] FWC Miniatures - Colour scheme - opinions - Posted by Luddite</title>
<description>Hi all,

OK, so i'm trying to settle on a colour scheme for a new force and wondered if anyone had any good ideas.

 OK, first off...

 Figures used: DRM Pax Arcadia

Setting: 40k (32nd Millenium, during the Age of Apostacy)

Force: Frateris Templars (Emperor-worshipping soldiers of the Ecclesiarchy - religious zealots)

 Environment: Industrial semi-desert

So, there are (apparently) no sources that detail what these chaps looked like, what colour schemes etc. so i'm free to make it up.

What colour scheme would you use?

I'm thinking the two main colours would be a rich chocolate brown and a deep navy blue. I've used it on my Dune Harkonnen troops and it looks really good, but that doesn't seem to sort of 'fit' with the sort of 40k grim dark 'Religious nutter' feel. Not sure why.

I'd like to avoid red, but other than that i'm open to suggestions.

Would you do a colour livery at all? Perhaps going 'desert camo'?

All help and opinions greatly received!

 [:D]

I have some fantasy/SF miniatures from that famous manufacturer from teh UK that I would be happy to trade.

 Anyone has some?

<description>So in going through CO and HQ I see the bit about dismounting infantry from APCs, but I don't see an HQ infantry dismounting with them. HQ infantry makes sense since once the APC move on who commands the ground troops? The same would go for air bourne or air assault. It is possible I just missed it or it is so obvious that it doesn't need to be mentioned.

<title>[25/01/12 18:54:58] BKC-II Rule Queries - Mortars and opportunity firers - Posted by collins355</title>
<description>Game situation - I have a battalion of infantry advancing across open country with a cross-attached squadron of Shermans. My infantry spot an enemy anti-tank gun and are within 20cm of their HQ who has a 3&amp;quot; mortar on tap. I roll my command dice and succeed, I want the infantry/tanks to continue to move and the mortar to fire on the anti-tank gun. My opponent calls opportunity fire on the moving tanks.

Which is resolved first, the opportunity fire or my mortar fire?

<title>[24/01/12 10:36:19] BKC-II Rule Queries - LOF and LOS - Posted by LEONARDO</title>
<description>Excuse me Pete I have a little doubt about LOF and LOS.
Unit &amp;quot;A&amp;quot; want to see unit &amp;quot;B&amp;quot;.
B is partially in cover and so:
&amp;quot;A&amp;quot; can always see &amp;quot;B&amp;quot; but can have a LOF and hit &amp;quot;B&amp;quot; if the half of B is not in cover. Is it right?

<title>[24/01/12 10:28:57] FWC Rule Queries - Preliminary bombardments? - Posted by Luddite</title>
<description>Hi all,
OK can i get some clarity on the rules around preliminary bombardments (PB) please?

 1. PBs are conducted by artillery units that you've purchased as part of your list? (Like all artillery they are not deployed on-table)?

 2. The +20 points for a PB is additional to this and allows one artillery unit to shoot once as a preliminary bombardment?

 3.  Each PB occurs after setup, before the first turn, and;
3.1 can target anywhere in play
3.2 applies automatically (no command roll needed)
 3.3 does not deviate
3.4 affects 20cm area at full Attack value or 30cm area at half Attack value

 Is this right?

OK, so random example - DRM Pax Arcadia army p62.

I take an Artillery Unit (Firemouth) 130pts Attack 6, and also a PB for 20pts.

As a PB this unit can make a single automatic, undeviating artillery hit before the battle, either concentrated (hitting everything in the 20cm area with 6 attacks each) or barrage (hitting everything with 30cm at 3 attacks each).

 Is this correct?

 Cheers
 Ludd
